About Us

We, the Boffin Bloggers, are merely a bunch of highly enthusiastic undergraduate students of St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, eager to tap the science geek in everyone and to promote the idea of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education to a larger audience. We are supported in our endeavours by STEMPeers- an organisation that originally started off as a career support group and later ventured on to creating an inclusive platform to connect students and researchers passionate about science and encourage them to share and communicate their ideas with their counterparts across the world.

SciXplore aims to spark an interest in various areas of STEM, be it news, cutting edge technology, recent discoveries or mindboggling stories of scientists. It is our aspiration to reach out to young minds, help them share their journeys and experiences in the field and to provide a platform accessible to everyone to express and enjoy science.

As a team we have been fortunate to have excellent teachers and resources to ease us into the wonderful world of science in a manner that defeats all stereotypes. We, in our humble attempt strive to do the same. Science can be and is engrossing and marvelous, but often the jargons can make it seem an esoteric and daunting prospect for students of our age group. Hence, our foremost priority is to provide our readers with thoroughly researched content in a language that is lucid without compromising on its authenticity and essence. Our motto is simple: To make science accessible to all.

P.S: ‘Boffin’ is the British slang for any individual engaged in technical or scientific research and development. Hence, we like to call ourselves the ‘Boffin Bloggers’

Professor Mus Mus is the mascot of SciXplore. He was created to honour the contribution of lab mice to scientific research. As he sets off on a journey to explore, he invites us to join him on his adventure to unravel the mysteries of the STEM universe.

This was designed with the idea of depicting the two brains merging in a Venn diagram fashion to form a common area, representative of a common ground of learning among peers belonging to different realms of science. The creativity and insight derived from this blend of varied ideologies aptly takes form of the light bulb between the two brains.
